Have you ever been so mad at someone you could hardly speak their name without the anger spilling out like acid? And all the while that person probably has no idea that you’re so bitter and angry – and doesn’t care! The definition on the shirt is so true. That inner turmoil is why it’s so important to forgive instead of ‘drinking poison’.
Now, before you get all angry with me, let me clarify what I’m saying. Forgiveness does not necessarily involve reconciliation and trust. It’s more like dropping that slimy thing you found on the beach, washing your hands, and continuing on your way. Jesus said this:
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)
When you forgive someone you are releasing them from that whipping post in your mind. You are letting go of the anger and bitterness. And you’re letting God’s comfort soothe and heal.
This was a lesson it took me a long time to learn. I hope that if you are experiencing bitterness and unforgiveness that you’ll take this lesson to heart and drop that slimy thing!

Just say yes to the . . . ah . . . tee shirt.
you're totally right about the poison... it's amazing how a person can get so worked up over something somebody did... and the "victim" doesn't even care, haha! It's just so awful...
You are right. Very well said. I myself is trying to let go the bitterness that's not doing any good to me and I'm praying for God's grace. Have a great day to you and thanks for the inspiring post
Very well said. As in anything that involves negative emotions.... bitterness is yet another one of those evils that find its way into our bloodstream quickly and silently~ Before we are even able to identify with how it has taken over....it has begun its damage.
